A Day of Smiles: Celebrating Children’s Day with Fundación María Esperanza

David Denies & FME Celebrate Children’s Day

By Gisela Cristini – Social Work Director

On August 30th, together with the Fundación Misionera María de la Esperanza, we celebrated Children’s Day—a day dedicated to joy, play, and the simple happiness every child deserves.
This year, nearly 1,000 children were welcomed with warmth, music, and colorful decorations that filled the space with a festive spirit. From the very first smiles to the last goodbye, it was clear this was going to be a day they would remember.

Throughout the afternoon, the children enjoyed a wide variety of activities: outdoor games, painting tables, temporary tattoos, popcorn stands, and even a circus show that brought amazement and laughter to all. Of course, there was also time to share snacks—sandwiches, juices, cakes, candies, and ice cream—because no celebration is complete without a sweet treat.

To make the day even more special, each child left with a small gift, a keepsake of their celebration and a reminder that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

At David Denies, we are proud to organize this celebration every year together with Sister Theresa and her foundation. Our involvement goes far beyond being present: we take care of organizing the entire event—from arranging transportation for children from rural areas more than 30 km away, to purchasing toys, hiring the circus, and ensuring every child receives a gift. This year, we were also able to provide sandwiches, cakes, and juices, which made the day even more special. Many of the children who joined us come daily to the community kitchens we support, and for them this celebration is a truly unforgettable moment.

For all of us who took part, the greatest gift was seeing the joy reflected in the children’s faces. Their laughter is what inspires us to continue strengthening our partnership with Fundación María Esperanza and to reaffirm our commitment to organizing this celebration year after year.

We deeply thank everyone who contributed through their donations and support. Together, we made possible a day where the right of every child to play, laugh, and be recognized truly came to life.

Until next Children’s Day!
