Cordoba Dove Shooting Report – January 2012
Hello everybody, 2011 was a rapid blur!
Regarding January, speaking as a shooting
guide of La Dormida Lodge, most of the month was really hot (max 105ºF) and
there was no rain. That affected all of the farmer’s crops. However, we just
recently got a couple days of hard rain, which saved everything from drying
out.
We still are shooting in the hills, a
few flats, and a water hole, and because of the lack of rain, the water areas
are the best place for the renowned high volume dove shooting. So, if some of
you are planning to set a personal record, this is a great time to do it. A
normal day would be temperatures of around 60°F in the morning and 90°F on
average in the afternoon. As you can see we are using very light shooting gear
(see picture), and to make it cooler we sometimes shoot from the river, haha.
Some guys will do whatever it takes!
The morning usually starts at around
8.30 with the departure from the lodge, we shoot till 12:30, stop for lunch,
and after lunch we set up some hammocks for a nice relaxing siesta.
After the siesta which usually ends at
around 3:00pm we start shooting again until you want to call it a day or the
sun goes down. We don’t have a set time to return the lodge, that schedule
depends on you.
Now speaking as the manager of La
Dormida Lodge, I would like to tell you that we are here to serve and present
you with excellent food, wines, massages, etc. We have a very nice fire place outside
that you can enjoy while drinking an excellent wine, talking to your friends,
smoking fine Cuban cigars and looking at the stars (see picture).
We are here waiting on you! Please come
and I guarantee you and your friends are going to have fun, also I want to
thank everybody that came and made all this happen.
Kind Regards
Joaquin Dartiguelongue
