Los Crestones Lodge - Season 2011 Wrap Up
Buenos Aires, Argentina - Duck & Perdiz Hunting
The end of the 2011 season is just around the corner for duck and perdiz hunting at Los Crestones Lodge in Buenos Aires province. It was Los Crestones first season and we are now happy to say that despite the drought, we managed to provide exceptional duck hunts. Our hunting areas with big lakes and marshes concentrated all the ducks in the area allowing us to have birds in big numbers at all times, no matter the conditions.
By mid season, we started receiving some major rains that filled up some of our smaller ponds which had been dry for most of the season. As a consequence, we now have more areas with more than enough water to cater ducks! We have made the most of this opportunity during the last weeks and we have plans to do some more fantastic hunts in the little ponds until the season comes to an end. Clients are as happy as we are and either way, they deeply enjoy the work of our retriving labs and upland pointers.
When it comes to perdiz hunting, we could say it was a challenging season. The hatch was affected by the drought and the wild pastures, which are the main habitat and cover for perdiz, were pretty slim so they were more sensitive to predators like foxes and hawks. However, good guns still shot their limit almost on every outing pushing the average to 30 flushes per afternoon.
Our two main dove roosts stayed in great shape season-round and our guests easily burnt very easly 10 to 20 boxes per shooting session.
The pigeon hunting over decoys was also good with guns shooting between 20 to 40 birds per afternoon.
We took some clients to do some big game hunting, doing a birds/big game trip. Our area has the best wild Blackbuck and Axis Deer Hunting in the country and maybe in the world!
All in all, it was a great first season. All our guests had a great time and left very happy and with plans of coming back in 2012. I hope to you see you here too!
With best regards,
