Pigeon Hunting at Montaraz Lodge

July 2011, Cordoba, Argentina

Due to the arrival of the first winter frosts and cold fronts, the pigeons are better concentrated, making it much easier for us to reach our daily bag limits.

An additional benefit is the strategically positioned blinds that our bird boys have constructed, placed with flight paths, wind, shade, and other such variables in mind, and made of the branches and leaves from the field to increase the camouflage factor.

Also the hunters are able to experience shots of every variety with multiple field types from which they can hunt the pigeons. At this time we are using corn, sorghum, and alfalfa fields, as well as olive plantations and feed lots. Some of these fields have normal flight patterns, while in others the pigeon presents difficulties, appearing from every direction.

We have recently refurbished Montaraz lodge, upgrading the rooms to include: 7 King, 1 Queen, and 1 Double, for a total of nine rooms. In order to improve our guests’ experience, we have made many small changes, such as the use of 350 thread-count Egyptian sheets, larger beds with new mattresses, and cozy new bath robes, to name a few. To us, small details matter. We have added to the comfort of our estancia, while making sure to preserve the history it contains.

We guarantee that these recent changes will be something that our guests will love!

Regards,

Tomás Frontera
