It was a chilly morning of mid July when Bruce Kopitar from Woodlake, CA set out to break our dove-shooting record at Pica Zuro Lodge in Córdoba, Argentina. He ate a hearty breakfast, chugged a couple of all natural energy drinks, grinned a huge white grin, and said "let's do this thing." All he had to do was shoot more than 3500 birds to beat the standing record, but little did anyone know that Bruce had bigger plans. He was going to go all out.
Starting at 7:45 in the morning as soon as the sun came up, Bruce and his three bird boys got down to business. He had 5 benellis montefeltro 90, 20 gauge, two loaders, and one counter to bravely aid him in his endeavor. Bruce just started shooting.... and didn't stop.
When the clicking stopped 12 hours later at 7:30pm, Bruce had done the unimaginable. He had shot a total of 380 boxes, 9500 shells, and 6117 doves all in one day. He averaged a 64% accuracy level.
Bruce is a character. He is a retired boxer and professional street fighter turned business man who has three screws in his shooting shoulder from previous surgeries. When asked whether or not that hurt him a lot he replied, "it tickled a little bit." This guy can take a beating better than most but after that day he sat down and all he had to say was "I want 3 massages tomorrow!" Way to go Bruce, way to go. You have humbled us all and set the bar high for anyone who dares to challenge you.
